Which barcode format should I use?
CODE128 works for almost any text or number and is the safest default. Use EAN-13 or UPC specifically if a retailer or marketplace requires that standard.
Can I use these barcodes for real retail products?
The codes are generated correctly to spec, but EAN/UPC numbers used commercially must be officially registered with GS1 — a barcode alone does not grant you a registered product number.
