Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains what QuickKit ("we", "this site") does and does not collect. We've written it to describe our actual, specific behaviour rather than generic boilerplate.
QR code and barcode generation & scanning
These tools run entirely in your browser. The text, URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, or images you enter or upload for these tools are processed on your own device using JavaScript and are never transmitted to our servers.
Short links
When you create a short link, the destination URL is stored on our server so the redirect can work. When someone clicks a short link, we record: an approximate location derived from IP address (country/city, via a third-party geolocation lookup), device type, operating system, browser, and the referring website. We do not store the visitor's raw IP address — it is one-way hashed before being saved, so it cannot be reversed back into an IP address, and is used only to avoid double counting rapid repeat clicks.
Cookies & local storage
We use a session cookie only for the admin dashboard login (if you are the site owner) and a local storage entry to remember your light/dark theme preference. Neither is used for tracking or advertising purposes by us directly.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address, and message so we can respond to you. This is not shared with third parties except as needed to send you a reply.
Third-party services we use
- ip-api.com — used to derive an approximate country/city from a visitor's IP address when a short link is clicked, for the analytics dashboard.
Your rights
You can request that we delete data associated with a contact form submission by emailing hello@example.com.
